Funeral services for Helen Faye Godwin-Smith will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Erick Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Chapel Cemetery in Athens. Services are under the direction of the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family of Athens.
Ms. Smith went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 7, 2016.

Helen Faye, 70, was born on November 10, 1945, daughter of Travis John Godwin and Norma Lee Gaston. For many years, she was the church secretary at Sonnyside Cumberland Presbyterian Churchin the Bethel community. She was a Homemaker, a rancher’s wife, Sunday School Teacher, and was very involved with the church. She also owned her own beauty shop in Bethel, Bethel Beauty Shop. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronnie E. Smith; and daughter Helena Reneese Smith.

Helen is survived by her son Ross Earl Smith and wife Andrea of Harper, TX; grandchildren, Mikel Smith, Justin Smith, Cody Smith, Rawlin Smith, Megan Smith, Maria Garcia, Joseph Martinez, Leslie Martinez, and Alexandra Martinez; and great grandchildren, Barrett Smith, Emory Hernandez, Avery Hernandez, and Sophia Martinez.

Pallbearers will include Mikel Smith, Justin Smith, Cody Smith, Mike Head, Dusty Godwin, Jim Jezek, and honorary pallbearer Rawlin Smith.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be sent to Sand Springs Baptist Church, 1212 FM 1616, Athens, TX 75751.
