Obituary for Valonda Earlyn Cooper (Pepper)

Graveside services for Valonda Cooper, 84, of Athens are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Shelby Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Frank Upchurch officiating. A Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1 P.M. at the cemetery. Services will be under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Valonda passed away on October 10, 2019 in Greenville, Texas.

Valonda Earlyn Cooper was born March 15, 1935 in Jackson, Michigan the daughter of Earl Pepper and Valonda Irene Town. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cross Roads and was also a loving mother, sister and grandmother who will be missed by all she loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents Earl Pepper and Valonda Irene Town; husband Richard William Cooper and granddaughter Julie Cooper.

Valonda is survived by five children, Stephen Michael Cooper of Washington, Garry Richard Cooper and wife Carol of Michigan, Ronald Cooper and wife Sue of Athens, Jeff Cooper and wife Aida of Murchison, Kaye Lyn Christopher-Jackson and husband Michael of DeRidder, LA; two brothers, Lyle Pepper and wife Polly of Jacksonville, FL, Lloyd Pepper and wife Barbara of Parma, MI; fifteen grandchildren, Jenny, Jaime, Jason, Jodie, Julie, Terry, Tommy, Ashley, Christopher, Rachael, Stacey Lightfoot, Savannah, Molina, Isabella, Marvin, Cheyanne; five great grandchildren, Saundra, Brandon, Ethan, Shelby, Elizabeth and numerous great great grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A special thanks to Hope Hospice in Greenville, Greenville Health and Rehab and the nurses who took care of Valonda.
