Obituary for Thomas Wayne Burden Jr.
A Celebration of the Life of Tom Burden, 69, of Athens will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens with Brother Bob Logan officiating.
Mr. Burden passed away on January 19, 2020 in Athens.
Thomas Wayne Burden, Jr. was born August 25, 1950 in Dallas, Texas the son of Thomas Wayne Burden, Sr. and Darlene Voyles Burden. He graduated from University of Texas Dallas with a Bachelor of Business degree and spent his entire career as an A/C estimator, last working for 3D Mechanical Plumbing Inc. Tom was a hard worker who was dedicated to taking care of his family, was kind to everyone and was known to have a great sense of humor. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling and work. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Burden of Athens; mother Darlene Whitwell of Mesquite; two sons, James Burden of Athens, John Burden of Los Angeles, California; four siblings, Steve Burden and wife Pam of Royse City, Nancy Bauer and husband Danny of Lancaster, Bobby Burden and wife Tauna of Arlington, Patty Burden Mastroleo and husband Pat of Forney and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will gather one hour prior to services to receive friends at the funeral home.
