Obituary for Cookie Airheart
A celebration of the life of Cookie Airheart, 69, of Athens, is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home, with Ricky Godwin officiating.
Mrs. Airheart passed away on February 22, 2023, in Athens surrounded by her family.
Teresa Marie "Cookie" (Godwin) Airheart was born on December 14, 1953, in Athens, the daughter of Roy Rayburn Godwin and Hazel Miram (Dykes) Godwin. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was the best MiMi to all her puppies and grand puppies. Cookie had a certain ingenuity and resourcefulness to her, there was no problem big or small she couldn't fix. She loved making people smile with her playful personality. A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend - Cookie will be missed by all those that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Rayburn Godwin; her brothers, Glen Godwin and Lanny Godwin; and her puppies, Avery, Buka, and Larry.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Steve Airheart of Athens; her children, Kourtnie Airheart of Dallas and Spencer Airheart of Dallas; her brother, Ivy Joe Godwin and wife Sherry of Athens; her sisters-in-law, Debbie Godwin of Athens, Carol Godwin of Athens, and Gloria Mitchum of Granbury; her puppies, Bruce, Birdie, and Roscoe; her grand puppies Mia, and Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
JoAnne Cooper, Renee Oliver, Susie West, Rickie Pagitt, and Ricky Godwin will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Special thanks and gratitude to Jacqulyn Smith with Harbor Hospice. The kindness and comfort you gave to Cookie and her family is something they will never forget.
As this will be a celebration of life, the family request those in attendance wear anything but black.
