Obituary for Susan Gail Till (Till)
A Celebration of the Life of Susan Till is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
Susan Gail Till was born June 26, 1948, in Athens, Texas to parents Grady Till and Dorothy Nell (Hoffman) Till, and entered into eternal rest on February 8, 2022, in Athens. She graduated from Athens High School in 1966 and went on to East Texas State University to gain her Bachelors of Science and Physical Education. Known as Coach Till, she spent her entire career coaching girls basketball, volleyball and P.E. at Van ISD, Longview Pinetree High School, Athens ISD and then retiring from Eustace ISD. Throughout her years Coaching she mentored and touched the lives of many students, who to this day share happy stories of their time spent with her. Aunt Sue loved her family, spent countless hours with her nieces and nephews, and after retiring took care of her mother until she passed. She will be missed immensely by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Mike Till.
Susan is survived by her two sisters, Annette Goolsby and husband Paul of Corsicana, and Terry Whatley of Tyler; special nieces and nephews, Doug Till, Steve Till, Beau Whatley, Lindsey Betsill, Ben Whatley, Jessica Goodwin, Randi Mitchael, Marion Combs, Paul Goolsby Jr., and numerous great nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial visitation held prior to the service on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 2-3:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
