Obituary for Sherry Kay Langford

Funeral Services for Sherry Langford, 62, of Athens are scheduled for 12:00 P.M., Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens with Erick Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Shelby Chapel Cemetery in Athens.

Mrs. Langford passed away on January 14, 2021 in Henderson.

Sherry Kay Langford was born August 23, 1958 in Dallas, Texas the daughter of James Arnold Kincer and Joann Sherrill (Thomas) Rogers. She joined the East Texas Police Academy and got an early start working as a medic with Mother Francis Hospital. She then went on to work for Dispatch for the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department and in 1992 she went on Patrol until she retired in 2016. Kay was part of the East Texas Drug Task Force and also head of the Henderson County Drug Task Force. In 1994 she was wounded on duty and in 2007 she was promoted to Lieutenant. She won Constable in 2016, and recently won re-election in 2020. Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Kay is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Jim Langford of Athens; two children, Terry Mills and wife Krissi of Edom, Jarod Mills and wife Ashlee of Trinidad; four sisters, Vicky Henson of Farmers Branch, Donna Beck Page and husband Gary of Longview, Mary Groveton of Groesbeck, Kelly Loden and husband Gerald of Longview; two grandchildren, Morgan Mills, Maddox Mills and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Serving as pallbearers will be Botie Hillhouse, Bryan Barnhart, Michael Teel, Diron Berry, Billy Rogers and Doug Perkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronny Brownlow, Ray Nutt and Peace Officers of Henderson County.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M., Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to the Henderson County Peace Officer’s Association.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
