Obituary for Serena Gerri Malcom (Bynum)
Funeral services for Gerri Malcom, 85, of Athens, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens with Bro. Paul Gill officiating. Interment will follow at Willow Springs Cemetery near Athens.
Ms. Malcom passed away December 21, 2020 in Athens.
Serena Geraldine (Bynum) Malcom was born September 28, 1935 in Elkhart, Texas the daughter of James Floyd Bynum and Annie Richardson (Hamilton) Bynum. She attended Trinity Baptist in Trinidad and loved to read. She enjoyed gardening and listening to Old Time Country music on her record player. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Lee Malcom; one son Frank Dewitt Burgess and numerous brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her loving children, Vicki Schenck and husband Henry of Athens, Teresa Franklin and husband John of Jacksonville, Gerri Lynn Gates of Athens, Michelle Snowden of Durant, Oklahoma, James Burgess and wife Kay of Frankston, Penny Templin and husband Darrell of Trinidad; one sister Fae Bynum and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 9-11:00 a.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home prior to the service.
