Obituary for Sandra K. Tuttle (Childers)

A celebration of the life of Sandra K. Tuttle, 70, of Athens are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.

Ms. Tuttle passed on April 28, 2021 in Tyler.

Sandra K. (Childers) Tuttle was born April 11, 1951 in Quanah, Texas, the daughter of DJ Childers and Trudy Mae (Dodson) Childers. She was a graduate of R.L. Paschal High School in Ft. Worth, Texas before beginning her career in the telecommunications industry. She worked for over 30 years for Gulf States Telecom, United Telephone before eventually retiring from Sprint as a Customer Service Representative. Sandra was a longtime member and Union Steward of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, a treasurer and VIP Director of the Henderson-Navarro County Labor Council and member of the AFLCIO. She loved her cats, enjoyed traveling and especially loved her music; she held a large collection of CD’s that she spent countless hours listening to. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her special aunt Loudean Dale.

Sandra is survived by her son Casey Tuttle and wife Laura of Athens; her lifetime companion Gene Rainey of Athens; two sisters, Sherry Knapp and husband Ronnie of Quinlan, Gail Hennessy and husband Peter John of Leonard; brother Michael Childers of Ft. Worth; two grandchildren, Quentin Allen, Charles Allen and wife Katie Ann and one great grandson Oliver Allen all of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
