Obituary for Nolan Owen

Funeral Services for Nolan Owen of Brownsboro are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Leagueville Baptist Church with Brother Tom Bragdon officiating. Interment will follow at Leagueville Cemetery.

Mr. Owen went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2019 in Tyler.

Robert Nolan Owen was born January 31, 1936 in Leagueville, Texas the son of James Robert Owen and Ina Bess Smith Owen. He was a longtime member of the Leagueville Baptist Church and loved reading his bible. Nolan worked for TXDot on highway maintenance for over 29 years. Paw Paw was a big history buff and he loved reading, studying all kinds of languages and going to air shows. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.


He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Harold Owen.

Nolan is survived by two children, Lance Owen and wife Connie of Brownsboro, Brooke Surlet and husband John of Brownsboro; five siblings, Wanda Dingler of Brownsboro, Elgie Owen and wife Donna of Chandler, Harvey Owen of Pflugerville, Gwen Moffeit and husband Danny of Leagueville, Conley Owen and wife Carolyn of Brownsboro; four grandchildren, Alison Bien and husband Jordon, Parker Owen and wife Sariah, Chandler Taylor, Owen Taylor; uncle Wayne Smith and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lance Owen, Parker Owen, Jordon Bien, Owen Taylor, John Surlet and Ronnie McManus.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home from 6-8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Henderson County Alzheimer’s Coalition.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
