Mr. Gould passed away on February 4, 2023, in Athens.

Robert Ayres Gould, Jr. was born on April 29, 1965, in Tyler, Texas, the son of Robert Ayres Gould, Sr. and Peggy Lorene (Lubben) Gould. He was a member of Living for the Brand Cowboy Church and worked in insurance sales with Gould Insurance Agency. Robert lived in Athens all of his life, he never met a stranger. As a kid, his mom would take him to town where he was a regular at the local coffee shop. Robert was the oldest of four siblings and he took great pride in “terrorizing” his younger siblings. He loved to have a good time with his friends that he cared so deeply for, there probably isn’t a soul in town who doesn’t have their own “Robert Gould” story. When his kids came along they were his pride and joy, he was so proud of all of them. Robert was an avid golfer, hunter, and rodeo man, he enjoyed watching each of his kids follow in his footsteps with these hobbies. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda who he loved so deeply. One of Robert’s very favorite title’s that he acquired was being “Big R” to his grandchildren. Robert’s kids liked to refer to him as “Mr. Athens” because of his commitment to serving his community. His remarkable legacy as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend will live on in the lives of those he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” Ayres Gould, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Gould of Athens; his mother, Peggy Gould of Athens; his children, Robert Ayres Gould III “Trey” and wife Natalie of Conroe, Mary Lorene Gould of Athens, and Morgan Marie Gould of Athens; his siblings, Joe Gould and wife Becky of Dallas, Patricia Ann Gould of Dallas, and Mary Ellen “Meg” Gould of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Maddox Ayres Gould and Maverick David Gould; his nieces and nephews, Reese Gould, Caroline Gould, Harris Gould, and Cate Gould; and his service dog, Nova.
