Obituary for Rickey Dewayne Williams

Services for Rick Williams, 68, of Athens, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 14, 2022 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Fondren officiating. Interment will follow at Poynor Cemetery in Poynor, Texas.

Mr. Williams went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 10, 2022, in the presence of his loving family in Athens.

Rickey Dewayne Williams was born September 21, 1953, in Dallas, Texas the son of Henry Alex Williams and Syble Ruth (Mayse) Williams. He was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Athens where he passionately served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and as a song leader. He owned and operated Rick Williams Masonry for over 40 years and was known as a hard-worker. Papa loved his family, especially his grandchildren and his only great granddaughter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Syble Williams.

Survivors include loving wife Phyllis Williams of Athens; three children, Rickey Don Williams and Marlena Gallender of Athens, Craig Williams and wife Kim of Athens, Josh Williams and wife Kasi of Chandler; sisters, Kay Adams and husband Jerry of Wylie, Shelly Draper and husband Kerry of Quinlan; twelve grandchildren, Rylie, Madison, Mason, Kirsten, Ashle, Gavin, Allie, Logan, Haley, Hannah, Baylee, Collin; one great granddaughter Eva Shae; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held Sunday, February 13, 2022, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
