Obituary for Richard Bryant Surratt
Services for Richard Surratt, 69, of Grand Prairie, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens. Interment will follow at Rounsavall Cemetery.
Mr. Surratt passed away June 14, 2020 in Grand Prairie.
Richard Bryant Surratt was born August 24, 1950, the son of Curtis Bryant Surratt and Patricia Olive. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Rounsavall, on June 26, 1971.He enjoyed playing the guitar, starting with a band in high school before joining Stumpwater, who he played with for over 20 years. Richard loved his grandchildren and would attend every one of their events when possible. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Curtis Bryant Surratt.
Survivors include wife, Mary Surratt of Grand Prairie; mother, Patricia Surratt of Terrell; children, Staci Lednicky and husband Tim of Mansfield and Traci Turner of Grand Prairie; sister, Beth Smith of Terrell; and grandchildren, Joseph Richard Lednicky, Jerrick Rashad Turner, Jeremy Ryan Lednicky, Jaci Emily Turner and Jaxon Jermillion Turner.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Pope, David Brooks, Tommy Brooks, Butch Surratt, Joey Lednicky and Jerrick Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Lednicky, Jaxon Turner, Johnny Rounsavall, Mike Green, Carrol Surratt, Les Nichols and Tudy Guzman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rounsavall Cemetery Association.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
