Athens - Funeral Services for Raymond Murray of Athens are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Harry Smith and Bro. Kris Minifee officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Athens.
Mr. Murray passed away on June 16, 2019 in Athens.
Raymond Theakron Murray was born April 29, 1938 in Greenville, Tennessee the son of Landon Murray and Thelma Bowman Murray. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Raymond served in the Army reserve. He was also part of Magnavox in Tennessee, Curtis Mathis in Athens and was involved for 30 plus years with Flea Markets in the East Texas area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill Murray and Bob Murray and sister Chloe.
Mr. Murray is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Murray of Athens; Daughter Kim Shorb and husband Charles of Cary; sister Lucille Peters and husband Clyde of Greenville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Matthew Shorb and Michael Shorb and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home from 6-8:00 p.m.
