Obituary for Rayford Lee Tiner
Services for Rayford Lee Tiner, 73, of LaRue, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Jason Burch officiating. Interment will follow at Davis Cemetery.
Mr. Tiner passed away March 7, 2020 in LaRue.
Rayford Lee was born November 20, 1946 in Athens, the son of Arthur Raymond Tiner and Inez (Hicks) Tiner. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Athens, the Athens Masonic Lodge #165, the Athens Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and also served as a board member of the Davis Cemetery. Rayford Lee retired from Sprint after 47 years as a cable specialist and currently worked as a field inspector for Mitchell Engineering. He enjoyed hunting and was the manager of the Salt Branch Ranch in Doss. Rayford Lee was known as being a man of his word and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Inez Tiner and brothers, James McRae and Raymond Tiner.
Survivors include wife, Juanita Tiner of LaRue; sons, Christopher Lee Tiner and wife Stephanie of Corpus Christi and Joseph R. Nelson, Jr. and wife Brenda of Bryan; sisters-in-law, Barbara McRae and Judy Tiner; grandchildren, Christopher Lane Tiner, Cason James Tiner, Brandon Lee Fleming Nelson and Bret Alan Nelson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jon Tiner, Randy Simpson, Ron Cole, Gary Stead, Darrell Smith and Larry Smith.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Larry Richardson, Darrell Miller, David Ward, Harold Clark, Richard Clark, Terry Buchinger, Mark Richardson, Chad Flud, Lanny Pepper, Gaylon Edwards, James Fite, Chris Claytor and members of the Salt Branch Ranch Hunting Club.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Athens Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution Scholarship Fund or the Athens Masonic Lodge #165.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
