Funeral services for Ramon Castañeda, 70, of Athens, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Pastor Jesus Rios officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery.
Mr. Castañeda passed away on December 18, 2021 in Athens.
Ramon Castañeda Delgado was born August 29, 1951 in Valparaiso, Zacatecas, Mexico the son of Francisco Castañeda and Irene Delgado Castañeda. Ramon was a home builder in Mexico for many years before he and his family moved to Texas where he worked for McCoy Tree Service. He loved to eat, watch TV, play guitar and especially loved reading his Bible. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be missed by many.
Ramon was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Hector Castañeda and Baltazar Castañeda.
Survivors include his loving wife Nelida Castañeda of Athens; two sons, Enrique Castañeda and Ramon Castañeda both of Mexico City, Mexico; two daughters, Nelida Castañeda of Painesville, Ohio, Irene “Sandy” Castañeda of Athens; siblings, Javier Castañeda, Francisco Castañeda, Pedro Castañeda, Rogelio Castañeda, Olga Lida Castañeda, Rosio Castañeda, Rena Castañeda; grandchildren, Ulysses Casteñeda, Cynthia Castañeda, Jecenia Castañeda, Stephany Castañeda, Amy Castañeda, Esmerelda Castañeda, Valerie Castañeda, Marcos Castañeda, Ilse Perez, Kimberly Gonzalez, Amy Gonzalez, Dasenya Jenkins, Zion Jenkins; special great grandson, Jeremiah Harris and numerous other great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held prior to the funeral service on Wednesday, December 29 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ulysses Casteñeda, Zion Jenkins, Javier Castañeda, George Castañeda, Luis Vega and Uriel Torres.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
