Obituary for Norene Killingsworth (Walker)

Funeral Services for Norene Killingsworth, 87, of Athens are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Olin Boles officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Athens under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Killingsworth passed away on March 14, 2021 in Athens.

Norene (Walker) Killingsworth was born June 12, 1933 in Murchison, Texas, the daughter of Woodrow Summerfield Walker and Harvie Lucille (Hood) Walker. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and served as the first female Justice of the Peace in Henderson County- Precinct 3 during the early 70’s. Norene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all those she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Marvin Glen Killingsworth; brothers, Nolan Walker, Nathan Walker and sister, Marilyn Walker Powers.

Norene is survived by her loving husband, Bishop Killingsworth, Jr. of Athens; son, Dwain Killingsworth of Athens; brothers, Harvey Walker and wife Gail of Athens, Bill Walker and wife Diane of San Antonio, Jon Walker and wife Judy of Willis; granddaughter, Melanie Crebbs and husband Ryan of Tyler; great grandchildren, Madelyn Crebbs of Tyler, Taylor Crebbs of Tyler and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 19, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
