Obituary for Mildred Louise Allen

Graveside services for Mildred “Baby” Allen, 91, of Athens are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Post Oak Cemetery with Bro. Gene Bishop officiating under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Ms. Allen passed away on October 7, 2023, in Athens.

Mildred Louise Allen was born August 31, 1932, in Crossroads, Texas, the daughter of Major Carroll Turlington and Ollie Pearl (Davis) Turlington. She married Jack Allen in Crossroads on February 14,1945 and was a homemaker in her early life while raising 3 children. Eventually Mildred would work for over 15 years as a proofreader for The Athens Daily Review. Baby loved sewing, cooking, singing and was a huge fan of the Dallas Mavericks and the Texas Rangers. Mamaw was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Allen; three sisters, Bobbie Combs, Evelyn Fleming, Lora Harton and her brother James Turlington.

She is survived by her children, Ricky Allen and wife Lynda of Athens, Brenda Huddleston Ireland and husband Kelly of Crossroads, Steve Allen and wife Johnnie of Athens; grandchildren, Christie LeAnn Warrick and husband Larry, Dewayne Ashley Williams and wife Jennifer, Jessica Mendoza and husband Paakal, Natalie Foster and husband Russell, Parker Huddleston, Jenifer Walker and husband Tyler, Bret Allen; great grandchildren, Cody Warrick and wife Melissa, Brianna Warrick, Braxton Williams, Zoe Mendoza, Xavi Mendoza, Oliver Mendoza, Maddox Foster, Jack Foster and sister-in-law Evelyn Turlington.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
