Obituary for Margaret Hembree Skiles (Woodruff)

A celebration of the life of Margaret Hembree Skiles, 83, of Athens are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Randy Skiles officiating under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Ms. Skiles went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 14, 2021 in Athens.

Margaret Ann Woodruff was born June 25, 1937 in Milsap, Texas, the daughter of Wailan Stanley Woodruff and Mary (Helmick) Woodruff. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church of Athens sang in the choir and took great pride in being a woman of faith. Margaret spent her entire 40-year career as an optician with Texas State Optical. She enjoyed bowling, working crossword puzzles and reading. Nonny was a TVCC supporter and an avid follower of all of her grand babies activities. She loved her family and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bill Hembree, Jere Skiles; her infant son Charles Stanley Hembree and a great granddaughter Sophie Skiles.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Michael O. Hembree and wife Lisa of Athens, Randy Skiles and wife Mary Dale of Athens; one sister Wailene Higgs and Larry of Shawnee, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Chris and Denise Hembree, Staci O’Neal, Sarah and Wesley Dye, Jennifer Crane, Jason Crane, Scott Skiles, Jonathan and Shelby Skiles, David and Jenny Skiles, Solomon and Courtney Skiles; fifteen great grandchildren, Devin and Melody Hembree, Haley Hembree, Addison Palmer, Karli Palmer, Natalie O’Neal, Jaden Crane, Jackson Dye, Knox Dye, Maxwell Dye, Connor Crane, Bree Skiles, Harper Skiles, Ezra Skiles, Connor Skiles, Parker Skiles and one great-great grandchild Rylee Hembree.

Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 2-3:00 p.m. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
