Obituary for Loyal Agatha Dowlearn (Hermes)
A Funeral Mass for Loyal Dowlearn is scheduled for 11:00 am, Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Malakoff with Father Nolan Lowry officiating. A private interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Seagoville.
Loyal went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 11, 2019 in Athens.
Loyal Agatha (Hermes) Dowlearn was born February 5, 1922 in Yoakum, Texas, the daughter of August and Mary (Hoffer) Hermes. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, making doll clothes and gardening. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Mary Hermes; husband, James W. Dowlearn; and children, Carlos Dowlearn, Opal Merka and Donnie Dowlearn.
Loyal is survived by three children, Jean Glasgow of Malakoff, Jim Dowlearn of Sandy Creek, New York, Donna Matthews and husband Chris of Midlothian; fifteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jarrod Hardin, Jacob Hardin, Glen Glasgow, Jeremy Brooks, Kirk Clendening and Chris Matthews
Visitation will be held from 6:30-7:30 pm with a Rosary starting at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
