Funeral Services for Linda Mingus, 76, of Athens are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Lake Athens Baptist Church with Mike Curry officiating. Interment will follow at Shelby Chapel Cemetery in Athens.
Linda passed away on December 29, 2019 in Tyler.
Linda Lou Mingus was born June 19, 1943 in Kemp, Texas the daughter of Roosevelt Ford and Addie Irene (Hice) Ford. She was a member of the Lake Athens Baptist Church. Linda enjoyed sewing and crocheting and loved being around her children and grandchildren. She was a feisty and hardworking mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be known for saying ‘quit worrying’ and ‘whatevers’. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jerry Ford; son, David Lee Huckabee and grandchildren, Kristen Denise Huckabee and Heather Paige Slocum.
Linda is survived by her children, Rhonda Hughes and husband Billy Ray of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Renea Howard and husband Robert of Lindale, Glen Mingus of Athens; three siblings, Patricia Kirksey, twin sister Glenda Sue Dilli, Rosemary Dotson; grandchildren, Holly Marshall, Steven Huckabee, Alyssa Huckabee, Amber Huckabee, Marc Slocum, Dawn Baxter, Misty Harris, Jenny Forsythe, Chris Hughes, Carson Hughes, Cierra Schultz, Josh Ellis, Arial Ellis, Brandon Howard, Wyatt Howard, Matthew Mingus, Jaycob Mingus, Jaysten Mingus, Aayslen Mingus and numerous great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Marc Slocum, Josh Ellis, Ariel Ellis, Wyatt Howard, Matthew Mingus and Brandon Howard.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday at Lake Athens Baptist Church from 1-2:00 P.M.
