Funeral Services for Lilly Dunnington, 78, of Athens, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Pastor Bill Burton officiating. Interment will follow at Barker Cemetery near Baxter Community under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Miss. Dunnington passed away on February 5, 2022 in Athens.

Lilly Anita Dunnington was born December 22, 1943 in Athens, Texas the daughter of Juanita (Dunnington)Ervin. She attended the Allen Chapel AME Church and loved telling stories about the old days. “Nini” was a great cook and loved caring for her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Lilly will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Lilly is survived by her siblings, Jeniece Tutt, Pastor Bill Burton and wife Helen, Patrena Paul, Rondy Ervin and wife Perla all of Athens; nieces and nephews, Angelo Ervin, Marcus Ervin, Raynette Fields, Kanita Ervin-Ringgold, Brandy Paul-Friendly and great nieces and nephews, Eric Ervin, Stephen Adkins, Nicholas Adkins, Kishari Friendly, Keileigh Friendly, Cameron Ervin, Amber Brown and Asia Brown.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rondy Ervin, Marcus Ervin, Eric Ervin, Nicholas Adkins, Cameron Ervin and Stephen Adkins.

A visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
