A celebration of the life of Kenneth Mitchell, 56, of Athens, is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Pastor David Jordan officiating. Services are under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Mitchell went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2021 in Athens.
Kenneth Dewayne Mitchell Sr. was born December 16, 1964 in Torrance, California, the son of Johnny Mitchell and Florence (Ward) Mitchell. He spent his life sharing the Lord’s word through his company Kenneth Mitchell Ministries and loved doing interviews. He was CEO and Founder of Missions Radio, now Informed Radio, where he interviewed Christian leaders such as Franklin Graham, John Bevere, Michael English and many others. He was also CEO and Founding partner of the National Brotherhood of Pro-Life Men where he advocated for the father’s rights of unborn children. He was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his boys playing basketball as well as the many other activities they were involved in. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather who will be missed by all he knew and loved.
He is preceded in death by his father, Johnny Mitchell and his mother and step-father, Florence and Jessie Rogers.
Survivors include his wife Mandy Mitchell of Athens; seven children, Kenny Mitchell Jr. of Nacogdoches, Shanon Elizabeth Mitchell of Nacogdoches, Daniel Rodrigo Mitchell of Colorado, Khrysta DeSee’ Lashley of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Hannah Patrice Mitchell of Colorado, Nathan Allan Mitchell of Athens, David Ethan Mitchell of Athens; one sister, Angela Mitchell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two brothers, Jerry Mitchell of Murchison, Sean Mitchell of Granbury; two grandchildren, Madison Mae Starkey, Isaac Rodrigo Ontiveros; father and mother-in-law, Frederick and Linda Lashley of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; four nephews; one niece; one great nephew and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Monday from 1-2:00 p.m. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to help cover Mr. Mitchell's funeral expenses.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
