Obituary for Kenneth Wesley McGlaun
Funeral services for Kenneth W. McGlaun, 78, of Athens are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2020 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens with Bro. Mike Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Cemetery.
Mr. McGlaun passed away January 17, 2020 in Athens.
Kenneth Wesley McGlaun was born July 5, 1941 in Mabank, Texas, the son of Robert Wesley McGlaun and Janie Louise (Mills) McGlaun Carter. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church for 22 years and attended the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class. Kenneth worked as a master electrician for Leon’s Sign Company from 1988 until his retirement in 2010. He was also a dedicated member of the IBEW Local 20. Kenneth enjoyed working on the farm, raising cattle, fishing with friends from church and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include wife, Sammye McGlaun of Athens; daughter, Patricia McGlaun Miller and husband Keith of Grandview; sister, Wanda Miller of Athens and grandchildren, Kristen Miller and fiancé Jon Moss and Tyler Miller.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Miller, Buddy Pugh, Billy McGlaun, Willie Wheeler, Keith Miller and Joe Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class.
A visitation will be held Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
