Obituary for Kathy Delynn Oden (Thompson)
Funeral services for Kathy Oden, 59, of Athens, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens with Pastor Ronnie Coston officiating.
Mrs. Oden went to be with her Savior on January 23, 2022, in Athens.
Kathy Delynn (Thompson) Oden was born June 11, 1962, in Dallas, the daughter of Lynn Randel Thompson and Pearl Ann (Thomisee) Thompson. She graduated from Scurry-Rosser High School and a member of the Dogwood Church of Athens where she volunteered and worked in childcare. She loved shopping, decorating and crafts as hobbies. Kathy enjoyed trying exotic foods while traveling all over with her husband John. Gigi was a perfect example of a homemaker and grandmother who spent every minute of every day caring for her family and making Christmas’ and holidays special. She was a friend to all she met and will be missed by many.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, John Oden of Athens; three children, Alicia Carpenter and husband Wesley of Athens, Shelby Reynolds and husband Josh of Friendswood, Emilly Oden of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; parents, Lynn and Pearl Thompson of Athens; brother Stephen Thompson and wife Gina of Forney; grandchildren, Kate Carpenter, Ally Carpenter, Natalie Reynolds, Michael Reynolds, Zoey Reynolds, Mila Oden and her very special friend Rhonda Malone.
A visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home from 9-11:00 a.m.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
