I worked with Justin at Brookshire's in what seems like another lifetime now. He was one of those guys that everyone loved. I always knew if I pulled into the parking lot and saw that little car (I think it was a Tempo), it was going to be a good day because Hearne knew how to make me laugh. I was put in charge of training him at one point - I think it was for the gas station kiosk - and I don't know how he learned anything at all because we spent the entire time laughing. But it wasn't just his sense of humor that I admired about him, he also knew how to put things into perspective. I was a young and dramatic girl when we worked together and I went through one of those breakups that all young and dramatic girls go through and I can remember Justin saying something along the lines of "he was ugly anyway, you deserve better" and in the moment I went from crying to laughing but I could also tell that he genuinely believed that I did in fact deserve better. I ended up falling in love with and marrying another one of our Brookshire's co-workers and over the last 12 years, my husband and I have spoken often of our years working together back then and Justin is in so many of our wonderful memories. I'd recently reconnected with Justin on Facebook and I loved seeing what an amazing man and father he was.

I am in constant prayer for Justin's family and I pray Justin is at peace. He meant so much to so many people, myself included.

I served with Justin in 29 Palms and man could he make us laugh. He always has a witty comment to brighten the day but in a times need he always had our backs. I’m still in shock over this as it’s happening to often to my brothers. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in this time. Nothing we do can bring him back, but it’s up to us to make his memories last forever. God bless and Semper Fi

I did not know Justin but our son was also at Twentynine Palms. 3rd CEB. In Iraq and Afghanistan. He lost the battle July 4, 2018. There are no words for your pain. May you find some comfort and peace in the future but I know the days and months will be hard. May God bless your family with some peace. Thank you for your service, Justin. Rest In Peace.
