Obituary for June Knott

Athens - Funeral Services for June Knott, age 80, of Athens are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Michael Diaz (Associate Pastor at Cathedral of Hope, United Church of Christ) officiating.

June passed away on June 14, 2019 in Palestine, Texas following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Winona June Partin was born June 18, 1938 in Van Zandt County, Texas the daughter of Billy O’Neil Partin and Martha Avelene Mewbourn Partin. Raised in the Athens area, she graduated from Athens High School in 1956 and went on to attend Henderson County Junior College (Now TVCC). June met the love of her life, Johnny Knott in High School and they were married June 2, 1956. She was a devoted homemaker and coach’s wife for 57 years, before Johnny’s passing in 2013. She was Baptist by faith and most recently attended the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. June treasured her family and she loved taking care of them. She always made sure there was a meal on the table, and she was very devoted to her husband and her son Jason. She was very involved in all of Jason’s school activities including being part of the PTA, Homeroom Parent and a Football Booster. She also enjoyed gardening and spent countless hours working in the yard. June will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her father; her mother Martha “Mutt” Farmer; her step-father Vernon L. Farmer; husband Johnny Ray Knott and brother Billy Don Partin.

June is survived by her son, Jason Sidney Knott of Athens; two sisters, Carol Dian Smith of Athens, Sandra Darlene Webb of Rockwall and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to send a special thanks to the staff at Legacy at Town Creek Nursing Home and Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home from 6-8:00 p.m.
