Funeral services for Julio Sanchez, 82, of Athens, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens with Father Nolan Lowry officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Sanchez passed away December 5, 2020 in Tyler.
Julio Sanchez was born January 7, 1938 in Floresville, Texas, the son of Antonio Sanchez and Petra Sanchez. He worked as a ranch hand for most of his life and was a talented carpenter, enjoying many hands-on projects. Julio loved watching the Dallas Cowboys play and during his free time enjoyed building, boxing and loved to cook and spend time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sylvia Sanchez and numerous siblings.
Survivors include children, Sheila Sanchez Smith and husband Jorge Sanchez Palomino, Sylvia Guerrero and husband Rudy, Julio Sanchez, Jr. and wife Becky, Ernest Sanchez and wife Margie, Mary Sanchez Solis, Maria Esther Hernandez, Alicia Sanchez, Maria Beni Sanchez, Lucy Sanchez and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jessie Smith, Rudy Martinez, Michael Guerrero, Rudy Guerrero III, Rudy Sanchez, Samuel Mancillas, Julio Sanchez III, Justin Sanchez, Sabrina Sanchez and Michael Martinez.
A visitation will be held Saturday, December 12, 2020 from 10-11 AM at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
