Funeral services for Tony Verastegui, 51, of Gun Barrel City, are scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Father Albert Jerome Motte officiating.

Mr. Verastegui passed away September 10, 2021 in Athens.

Juan Antonio Verastegui was born August 8, 1970 in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, Mexico the son of Ruben Verastegui Mendez and Ma Guadalupe Padron Ruiz. He enjoyed working on cars and cooking out. Tony loved raising his roosters and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alekka Verastegui just a few weeks ago.

Survivors include his loving children, Blackston Verastegui and Cheyenne Houston of Gun Barrel City, Jose Verastegui and Alexis of Mesquite; mother Lupita Padron Ruiz of ZD Mante, Mexico; father Ruben Mendez of Houston; brother Juan Manuel Verastegui Padron and wife Imelda Govea Estrada of Reynos, Mexico and two grandchildren, Andrew Verastegui and Blackston Verastegui, Jr.

A visitation will be held prior to the Friday, September 17, 2021 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
