Obituary for Joseph Fred Holmes
A celebration of the life of Joseph Holmes, 46, of Athens, is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Living for the Brand Cowboy Church of Athens with Rod Millsap and Trey Barron officiating.
Mr. Holmes passed away May 4, 2021 in Athens.
Joseph Fred Holmes was born December 28, 1974 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Robert Patterson Holmes and Mary (Belsley) Holmes. He was a member of Living for the Brand Cowboy Church and worked as an auto technician for many years before becoming a farrier. Joseph enjoyed playing the guitar and was an avid outdoorsman who loved riding horses, fishing and hunting antelope and mule deer in Wyoming. He built a few mud trucks in his younger years and spent countless hours helping his friends work on their pulling tractors. He was a hardworking man who loved spending time with his family and will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Survivors include wife, Andrea Holmes of Athens; parents, Robert and Mary Holmes of Canton, Illinois; children, Keifer Billy Jack Thompson of Athens, Keely Danielle Thompson of Athens, Charles “Charlie” Wade Holmes of Athens and numerous brothers and sisters.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
