Obituary for Johnny Mac Sparks
Memorial services for Johnny Sparks, 82, of Athens, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Dean officiating.
Mr. Sparks passed away October 3, 2021 in Athens.
Johnny Mac Sparks was born August 21, 1939 in Henderson County, the son of Malcolm Lloyd Sparks and Johnnie Faye (Hopson) Sparks. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Athens and loved the Lord. Johnny served in the United States Army and worked as a bricklayer instructor for Trinity Valley Community College for over 20 years. He enjoyed golfing earlier in life and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and was a member of the Athens Fish and Game Club. His greatest hobby was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include wife of 60 years, Glenda Sparks of Athens; children, Steven Sparks and wife Hope of Athens, Staci Shultz of Athens; brother, Danny Sparks and wife Yvonne of Athens; three grandchildren, Kolton Sparks and wife Holly, Grant Shultz and wife Brianna, Brent Shultz and wife Sarah; three great grandchildren, Peyton Shultz, Weston Shultz and Karter Shultz.
A visitation will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 1-2:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
