Obituary for John Richard Graham (Graham)

Graveside services for John Graham, 80, of Athens, are scheduled for 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 2, 2021 at Riley Cemetery in Pittsburg. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Dogwood Church in Athens with Bro. Dave McGee and Pastor Keith Graham officiating with a memorial visitation to follow until 12:00 p.m.

Mr. Graham passed away March 27, 2021 in Athens.

John Richard Graham was born June 8, 1940 in Bivins, Texas, the son of James Fred Graham and Dora (Dyer) Graham. As a young man he joined the United States Air Force before retiring after 20 years of service and received his bachelors degree from Waylon Baptist University and his masters degree from UT Tyler. He spent most of his career after his Military service with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after 20 plus years of service. John was a jack of all trades, could modify anything and even had a small workshop at Arabella Assisted Living where he would build crosses to give away. He was a longtime member and deacon at Dogwood Baptist Church and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Graham and two brothers, Jimmy Graham and Jerry Graham.

Survivors include children, Jim Graham and wife Karen of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Don Graham and wife Ricki of Forney; four grandchildren, Taylor Graham and Adriana, Reese Graham, Justin Graham and Megan and Cameron Graham.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
