Obituary for Jimmy Lee Hagood
Graveside services for Jimmy Hagood, 72, of Athens, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Denny Sanderson and Pastor Darren Miller officiating.
Mr. Hagood passed away November 20, 2019 in Athens.
Jimmy Lee Hagood was born September 28, 1947 in Longview, Texas, the son of L.Z. Hagood and Mattie Jo (Perry) Malone. He loved and cherished his wife of 54 years, Peggy Nell (Washington) Hagood. For more than 40 years, he owned and operated Hagood Painting in Athens. He was highly regarded for his kindness, values, integrity and faith in God. Jimmy was a hard worker who enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and his quiet time on the porch. His grandchildren will remember him as a loving and gentle jokester. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, L.Z. Hagood and Mattie Malone; brother, Lynn Malone; grandson, Jonathan Stovall and son-in-law, Don Pruitt.
Survivors include wife, Peggy Hagood of Athens; children, Amanda Michele Pruitt of Athens, Shane Lee Hagood and wife Whitney of Athens and Peggy Sheree Stovall and husband Stephen of Athens; brother, Norman Hagood and wife Annette of Clarendon; sister, Tina Malone of Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Doug Bolin, Vernon Bolin, Eric Bourgeois and Jason Brown.
A visitation will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
