Obituary for Jimmy Glenn Barker
Graveside services for Jimmy Glenn Barker, 86, of Athens, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Barker Cemetery near Athens with Pastor Bill Burton and Harold Herndon officiating. Services will be under the care of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Barker went to be with his Lord and Savior December 25, 2020 in Athens.
Jimmy Glenn Barker was born March 30, 1934 in Henderson County, Texas the son of Rufus Barker and Emma (McCrin) Barker. He was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Athens and loved talking with family and friends. He loved spending time outside gardening and spent his career as a landscaper. He was a loving man who will be missed by all he knew.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include one son; one daughter; three siblings, Eugene Barker and wife Jacquelain, Betty Barker, LaVoncia Ellington all of Athens and a special friend Brenda Causey.
Serving as pallbearers will be his family.
