Obituary for Jerry Dale Mathis
Jerry Mathis, 68, of Athens, passed away on January 17, 2022, in Dallas. He will be laid to rest during a private ceremony at Oaklawn Memorial Park under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Jerry Dale Mathis was born Janaury 30, 1953 in Vinita, Oklahoma, the son of Vester Junior Mathis and Lora Mae (Trickey) Mathis. He retired as an electrical designer after spending many years working all over the country. Jerry was a perfectionist who loved Harley Davidsons and enjoyed wood turning and gardening. He was a loving, kind, gentle and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend who had a great sense of humor and loved people.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Vickie Mathis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda Mathis of Athens; children, Vanessa Lane and husband Ryan of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Courtney Owen and husband Jason of Houston, Paulette Yager of Athens, Trina Nelson and husband Rusty of Eustace, Christy Massengale and husband Ryan of Gun Barrel City; sister, Louise Baker of Norman, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Autumn Lane, Audrey Lane, Lawson Owen, Dalton Owen, Emmeline Owen, Caleb Owen, Christopher Dunlap and wife Diana, Cevyn Dunlap and wife Autumn, Nicholas Dunlap and wife Mary, Mariah Meeks and husband Travis, Kara Ewing, Jacob Zubl and wife Lexi, Eleanore Massengale and great grandchildren, Ian Dunlap, Eli Dunlap, Charlie Meeks, Peter Meeks, Jaxson Zubl, Christopher Zubl and Tate Zubl.
