Obituary for Jerry Decker
Graveside services for Ottis “Jerry” Decker of Athens are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2020 at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall, Texas with Bro. Leon Wallace officiating.
Mr. Decker passed away on February 15, 2020 in Athens.
Ottis “Jerry” Decker was born December 8, 1930 in Lincoln County, Tennessee the son of Seaborn Decker and Myrle Rigsby Decker. He began his career with Lockheed in San Jose, California, then moved his family back to Texas where he retired after working for over 20 years for the City of Dallas. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Athens and enjoyed listening to country music. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and loved to travel with his wife Fern. He was a loving family man who will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Keith Decker, Tommy Decker and his sister Edith Walker.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Fern Decker of Athens; two children, Danny Decker and wife Laura, Dennis Decker and wife Laura; one sister Lucille Woods; three grandchildren, Zachary Decker, Christy Decker, Jessica Decker and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
