Jerry passed away May 24, 2021 in Tyler.
Jerry William Chaffin, Sr. was born September 16, 1942 in Butler County, Missouri, the son of Leo W. Chaffin and Jewell A. (Palmer) Chaffin. He grew up in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and served in the United States Air Force. Jerry worked all over the country as a lineman before becoming a truck driver and serving as a manager for Service Transport in Houston as well as Suttles Highway Transport. He was a master mechanic and retired to build dump trucks and work on different types of vehicles. Jerry was quick-witted and loved following the activities of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, JoAnn Harris and daughter Myra Wilfong.
Survivors include wife, Paula Chaffin of Athens; children, Jerry Chaffin, Jr. and wife Staci of Athens, Misty (Chaffin) Clark of Ennis, Pamela Rudisill and husband Rick of Troy, Missouri, Mike Worley of Seminole, Oklahoma, Mitch Worley and wife Carrie of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Sabre Dixon and husband Jason of Pratt, Kansas, Kristine Veach of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Faye Bockerstette of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Zachary Clark, Christopher Clark, Jordan Clark, Nathan Flury, Melissa Flury, Brittani Wood and husband Daniel; nephews, Ricky Garner, Craig Garner and a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
