Obituary for James Michael Sparks
A private memorial service and interment for James Sparks, 70, of Athens will be held under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Sparks passed away August 28, 2020 in Athens.
James Michael Sparks was born May 8, 1950 in Dallas, the son of Clyde Alva Sparks and Thelma Ozell Sutton. He served in the United States Army Reserves and was a member of the Church of Christ, attending numerous congregations throughout his lifetime. James enjoyed reading, watching television and going on car rides. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Billie Maxine Nafe.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Fredda Sparks of Murchison; children, James Sparks and wife Shelley of Farmerville, Louisiana, Jason Sparks and wife Karla of Caddo Mills, Jared Sparks of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sister, Dorothy Dixon of Dallas; grandchildren, Paden Sparks and wife Alex of Carrollton, Allison Kempf and husband Nick of Corinth, Jody Sparks and wife Carley of Bedord, Jayla Brown and husband Will of Bedford, Scott Sparks of Longview, Sadie Sparks of Longview; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
