Funeral services for Jim Hutchinson, 78, of Athens, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2020 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens with Bro. Scotty Short officiating.
Mr. Hutchinson passed away November 16, 2020 in Tyler.
James Macarthur Hutchinson was born January 24, 1942 in Lima, Ohio, the son of Harold Isaac Hutchinson, Sr. and Mary Magnolia (Sholler) Hutchinson. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam era and worked for Hitchachi and later Dallas Semiconductor as an electrician for many years before retiring. Jim was an avid backpacker and loved being outdoors among nature. He even walked a portion of the Appalachian Trial. Jim will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Mary First, Donald Hutchinson, Harold Isaac Hutchinson, Jr. and Edward Hutchinson.
Survivors include his wife, Shelly Hutchinson of Athens; children, James Macarthur Hutchinson, II and wife Julie of Frisco, Katie West and husband Justin of Gun Barrel City, Trevor Mallinger of Athens; siblings, Bill Hutchinson and wife Pauline of Garland, Pat Winget and husband Ferd of Melbourne, Florida, Betty Twining Taylor of Lime, Ohio, Sharon Winget and husband Mark of Forsyth, Georgia; 4 grandchildren, and a special nephew, Preston Ewald and niece Misti Ewald.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 20, 2020 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home prior to the service.
