A memorial service for James Fly, 77, of Mabank, will be scheduled at a later date.
Mr. Fly passed away January 20, 2022, in Athens.
James Ralph Fly was born August 21, 1944, in Dallas, the son of Hershel D. Fly and Roberta Birtwell (Boykin) Fly. He graduated from Irving High School in 1962 where he met the love of his life, Judy Kay Adams, whom he would later marry. From this union came three wonderful children- Randy, Kim, and Cindy. James spent 50 years working for General Motors as an engineer, traveling all over the world. During his free time, he and his wife enjoyed golfing. James was an honest, hardworking, and family oriented man who loved his wife more than anything in this world. His remarkable legacy as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend will live on forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cynthia Lea; brother, Samuel Fly and sister, Barbara Cato.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Judy Fly of Mabank; children, Randy Fly of Dallas, Kim Fly of Arlington; sister, Geraldine Skeldon of Irving; grandchildren, Benjamin Fly and wife Kassandra, Stephanie Shearin, James Shearin, Samantha Post and husband Cody; great grandson, Parker Post, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
