Obituary for James A. Crye

Mabank - Graveside services for Jim Crye, 82, of Mabank, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 23, 2019 at Tool Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Boyd officiating.

Mr. Crye went to be with his precious Lord and Savior on December 19, 2019 in Dallas.

James A. Crye was born December 6, 1937 in Springfield, Arkansas, the son of Joseph Ray Crye and Ima Faye (Hartwick) Crye. Jim met the love of his life Betty in Whittier, CA. He was a member of Faith Community Baptist Church of Payne Springs as well as the Masonic Lodge of Athens. He and his late wife Betty loved traveling all over the United States with the Volunteer Christian Builders family and lifelong friends of 60 years, Cotton and Sue Meyer. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, especially ranching. Jim treasured his family and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who called him “Moo”. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ima Crye; wife, Elizabeth Crye; brother, Billy Ray Crye; and sons, Jimmy Crye and Ricky Crye.

Survivors include his loving grandchildren, Matt Crye and wife Michelle of Mabank, Mark Crye and wife Jessica of Athens and Julie Anne Gibbs and husband Matthew of Mabank; great grandchildren, Autumn, Adrianna, Kaleb, Emma, Lexi, Trenten, Jonah, Noah, Eli James, Jayden, Ella Jae, Lara, Stacia and Claudia; daughters-in-law, Dottie Crye of Cross Roads and Cindy Anderson of Denton; sister-in-law, Carol Cummings and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Volunteer Christian Builders, 340 Georgia Ann, Pleasanton, Texas 78064.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
