A Funeral Mass for Humberto Martinez, 51, of Athens, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the St. Edwards Catholic Church Education and Ministry Campus with Father Nolan Lowry officiating under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Martinez passed away June 2, 2021 in Athens.

Humberto Martinez Zuniga was born December 17, 1969 in San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Faustino Martinez Mendez and Ma Carmen Zuniga Martinez. He was known as a hard-working man who loved his job. He worked for many tree trimming services before he and his brother started their own service. He enjoyed spending his free time with friends and family, especially his grandson Ace.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his two sons, Humberto Martinez Castaneda of Wichita, Kansas, Alecxis Martinez of Athens; one grandson Ace Martinez of Athens, Texas; nine siblings, Juan Antonio Martinez Zuniga, of San Luis de la Paz, Mexico, Jose Luis Martinez Zuniga, of San Luis de la Paz, Mexico, Amparo Martinez Zuniga, of Athens, Texas, Jose Merced Martinez Zuniga, of Malakoff, Texas, Yolanda Martinez Zuniga, of San Luis de la Paz, Mexico, Irma Martinez Zuniga, of San Luis de la Paz, Mexico, Ofelia Martinez Zuniga, of San Luis de la Paz, Mexico, Rocio Martinez Zuniga, of San Luis de la Paz, Mexico, Noe Martinez Zuniga, of San Luis de la Paz, Mexico and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Humberto Castaneda, Alecxis Martinez, Bryan Medina, Jesse Garcia, Fortino Lopez, Raul Medina, Faustino Medina and Hiban Castaneda.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with the Rosary following at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
