Memorial services for Harold Richardson, 86, of Athens, is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Bois D’Arc Baptist Church in Palestine with Rev. Mike Drinkard and Dave Baker officiating.
Mr. Richardson passed away August 26, 2020 in Tyler.
Harold Dwane Richardson was born May 17, 1934 in Palestine, the son of Hugh L. Richardson and Maybelle L. (Pinkerton) Richardson. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and would oftentimes share stories about his time overseas. Harold was a member of the Bois D’Arc Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. He worked for Knox Glass Plant in Palestine for 30 years and later worked as a guard for the Texas Department of Corrections Beto Unit for more than 10 years. Harold mastered the art of stained glass and would give these pieces to family and friends. He also loved working with his cattle and spending time on his land. Harold will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Melvin Lambright; sister, Carolyn Richardson and brother, Hugh Richardson, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Inez Richardson of Athens; daughter, Kim Benson and husband Paul of Athens; grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Benson of San Diego, California, Cody Ryan Benson of Athens; and niece, Carol Pugh and husband Jerry.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
