Obituary for Frances Syria Lovato (Bustos)
A Funeral Mass for Frances Syria Lovato of Albuquerque is scheduled for 10:30 am, Saturday, August 10, 2019, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Albuquerque. A rosary will be held prior to the service at 10:00 am.
Mrs. Lovato passed away on August 5, 2019.
Frances Syria Lovato was born in Espanola, New Mexico on October 4, 1956. She was the ninth child of ten and the fifth daughter of Augustine Bustos and Lucy Alarid Bustos. Growing up Frances competed in track, volleyball, and later softball with a competiveness that fueled her to be the best. One day she met the love of her life, a bus driver named Ernesto Lovato from Chamisal, New Mexico. She loved him so much that she married him three times with the first being back in 1974. Together they made a life and had three children, Leandro, Elena, and Diego. She loved her family so much that she would always make sure that her family needs were taken care of well before hers. As time passed and she became a grandmother, her heart was fulfilled. Her love for sports and competition spilled over to her kids and soon they were in Little League, YAFL and Youth Basketball. She was with them every step of the way, coaching, officiating, or just being a fan and giving back to the youth of her community. Frances was passionate when it came to sports and is best known to be heard from miles away cheering for her kids or yelling at the officials defending her team as a coach but especially as a fan. The one true constant was her love for the kids. This love is felt by countless lives all across the nation, not just in her community. So many consider Frances their second mom because of her kindness, love and most importantly her famous “Momma ‘Vato” hug followed by a smile that warmed your heart that came with a look of true sincerity from her beautiful green eyes. The Legacy Frances has built is one of love, generosity, respect, and honesty. These gifts were given to her husband, children, grandchildren, and to all of her extended family of “2nd” children and friends.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents Augustine and Lucy Bustos; and her sister Aurora Jesse.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ernesto Lovato; their three children Leandro Lovato, Elena Lovato, and Diego Lovato; their grandchildren Diego Lovato II, Jazmine Lovato, Jazelle Lovato, Giana Lovato, Athena Lovato, Scarlett Lovato, and Franciso Lovato; her brothers David Bustos and wife Mary, Joseph Bustos and wife Roberta, Robert Bustos and wife Evelyn, Gus Bustos and wife Phyllis, Matthew Bustos and wife Glenda; her sisters Phyllis Bustos, Lucie Hoffeins husband Major, Bernadette Bustos; her Goddaughter Alexis Bustos; with numerous nieces and nephews.
