Obituary for Elouise Golden Watts (Cowley)

Graveside services for Elouise Watts, 93, of Athens, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Irving, Texas under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens, Texas.

Ms. Watts passed away February 1, 2021 in Athens.

Elouise Golden (Cowley) Watts was born December 19, 1927 in Leesburg, Texas the daughter of Plummer G. Cowley and Willie Mae (McCurdy) Cowley. She was a member of the Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving and worked for PepsiCo/Frito Lay for over 21 years. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery and spending time outside gardening, especially raising her roses. She loved cooking and took great pride in caring for her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester Watts; daughter, Joyce Thorn and her sister, Margarite King.

Survivors include her two daughters, Saundra Robertson and husband Harvey of Athens, Diane Watts of Elgin, Texas; brother-in-law, Dony Watts and wife Marie of Longview; son-in-law, Danny Thorn of Plano; five grandchildren, Angela Carlow and husband Jon, Jackie Wooley, Stephanie McManus and husband Bob, Danielle Thorn, Stephen Thorn and wife Allie; fifteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held prior to the graveside at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens from 9-11:00 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2021.
