Obituary for Elfreida Rojean Jenkins (Pierce)

Funeral Services for Elfreida Jenkins, 89, of Athens are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens with Bro. Larry Fondren officiating. Interment will follow at Staffor-Tucker Cemetery near Bradford.

Ms. Jenkins went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 28, 2022, in the Springfield Community.

Elfreida Rojean Jenkins was born December 12, 1932, in Clovis, New Mexico the daughter of Thomas A. Pierce and Thelma A. (Hyde) Pierce. She proudly grew up in Ranchvale, New Mexico before moving to Athens. She was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Athens who loved going to church and grew up playing piano on Sundays. For most of her life Mammaw was a homemaker who loved sewing, making many of her children and grandchildren’s clothes, spending time in her garden and in her “free time” she also kept books for their business, Mrs. J’s Plant Farm. Nanny loved spending time with her family, was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Bob Jenkins; brother Ray Pierce and one grandson Glen Turbyfill.

Elfreida is survived by her two children, Randy Jenkins and wife Debbie of Springfield, Texas, Brenda Pearce and husband Van of Athens; sister Mary Meador; numerous brothers in law and their spouses; grandchildren Brandy Garcia and husband Rigo, Jared Jenkins, Jacob Jenkins and wife Vanessa, Justin Jenkins, Joel Jenkins, Jeannie Turbyfill, VJ Pearce, John Turbyfill, Teresa Roberts and husband David, Waylon Pearce and wife Cheme, Lacie Goodson and husband Tayler; twenty great grandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family all over Texas and New Mexico.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Jenkins, Jacob Jenkins, Justin Jenkins, Joel Jenkins, John Turbyfill and Waylon Pearce.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rigo Garcia, David Roberts, Austin Jenkins, Lane Loden, Will Matthews and Steven Turbyfill.

A visitation will be held prior to the service Thursday, March 3, 2020, from 1-2:00 p.m. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
