Obituary for Earnest O'Neal Fisher

Graveside services for Earnest O’Neal Fisher, 89, of Mabank, are scheduled for Friday, April 19, 2019 at 1:30 pm at Shelby Chapel Cemetery with Pastor Jonathan Lilley officiating. Burial will be under direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Fisher passed away April 16, 2019 in Mabank. He was born January 26, 1930 in Athens near the Bethel Community, the son of Guy and Lillian Fisher. Mr. Fisher entered the United States Air Force in 1948, and after seven years, was discharged in 1955. He worked for the Fort Worth Independent School District five years, as maintenance construction supervisor, before moving back to Henderson County and Athens in 1960.
Mr. Fisher was a member of the order of Knights of Pythias, Red Cross Lodge No 14 in Fort Worth and served as Rank of Knight and initiated in the Dramatic order of Knights of Kharassan.
Mr. Fisher was a member of the I.B.E.W. Electrical Union 1151 in Tyler and had a Master Electrician’s License in Athens and Tyler. He was a charter member with the East Texas Municipal Inspector’s Association and served on the Chapel Hill School Board.
After retiring from the City of Tyler as an Electrical Inspector in 1985, he became a farmer in Cross Roads and raised cattle for about 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Fisher; and brothers, Dillis Lee Fisher and Aubrey Fisher.
Survivors include daughter, Tina Ward and husband Bobby of Mabank; son, Clyde Fisher; grandchildren, Chris Martin and partner Robert Vaughn of Athens, Stacey Martin of Cross Roads, Justin Ward and wife April of Martins Mill and Jarrod Ward and wife Anna of Canton; great grandchildren, Ashlee Smith, Ayden Cowart, Presley Ward, Paisley Ward, Westi Ward, Brooklynn Ward, Braxton Ward and Riggin Ward; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
