Obituary for Dwayne Crabtree

Services for Dwayne Crabtree, 73, of Athens, are scheduled for Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home with Bro. Eric Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Meredith Cemetery under direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Crabtree went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2019, at his residence, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born July 10, 1945 in Corpus Christi.

Dwayne served in the Navy aboard the USS Ranger during the Vietnam War. He worked and retired from Kelly Springfield after 30 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent his summers at his “fishcamp” fishing on the river with his kids, grandkids, and brother-in-laws and spent time each winter in the Colorado mountains camping and elk hunting with his four sons.

He is preceded in death by parents, William Elmer Crabtree and Laura Von Dean (Harlien) Crabtree; son, Brian Crabtree; granddaughter, Maddie Crabtree.

Survivors include wife, Linda (Baker) Crabtree of Athens; three sons and their wives, Dwayne and Rosalie of Cayuga, Michael and Dee of Athens, and Ronnie and Leah of Athens; daughter, Julie Spivey and husband Chad of Cayuga; brother, David Crabtree and Mary of Corpus Christi; sister, Laura Dean Reinhardt of Elberta, Alabama; 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Craig, Harvey Lynn Walker, Ricky Baker, Josh Baker, Russell Baker, Diron Berry, Matthew Stanley and William Crabtree.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, 2019 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Funeral services were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
