Obituary for Donna Mae Kelley (Urch)

Graveside services for Donna Kelley, 90, of Athens, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2023, at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens officiated by Rev. John Michael Cash. Services will be under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Ms. Kelley passed away on January 5, 2023, in Tyler.

Donna Mae Kelley was born May 9, 1932, in Seattle, Washington the daughter of Noble Urch and Clara Hazel (Piggott) Urch. She was a member of the Sand Springs Baptist Church and formerly a longtime member of the Athens Church of the Nazarene. She was a very sharp minded lady who loved studying her Bible and working jigsaw puzzles. She was a very talented artist who created many beautiful oil paintings in her younger years and loved caring for her many plants. Donna loved sewing, crocheting, and knitting and was a wonderful cook who loved making meals for others. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Woodrow “Woody” Edwards and Alfred Kelley.

Survivors include her children, Cheryl R. Croy and husband Terry of Garland, Texas, Karen G. Short and husband Fred of Germantown, Ohio, Douglas W. Edwards and wife Cathy of Hamilton, Ohio; her sister Dolores G. Olendorff of Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Kevin Croy and wife Katie, Michelle Lee and husband Evan, Lori Robinson and husband Derek, Melanie Werth and husband Jason, Megan Short, Curtis Edwards, Mitch Otto, Derek Otto and wife Jenny and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family.
