Obituary for David Alan Samuel King

A private family graveside service for David King, 76, of Athens, are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Walnut Creek Cemetery with Rabbi Neal Katz officiating.

David King passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2021 after a 4 year long battle with cancer.

David was born in Birmingham, England on January 12th, 1945 to Cyril and Joyce King. The second of 4 siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clifford King, and sister Jenifer Dagul. He was a gentle soul known for his love of family, his entertaining stories and never at a loss for a humorous spin on any given situation, David maintained his uplifting spirit even on his last days on this earth. An avid sports fan, David could give you a full rundown on the sporting events he followed, at the top of his list being soccer and tennis. You could find him at home sipping on his tea or coffee in the early hours of the day as he watched matches taking place across the world. Along with his endearing character and sense of humor, David loved sharing his passion for a good plate of food and would not hesitate to cook a full meal for an impromptu family dinner. Among his greatest hits were his curry, fried chicken and Shepherd's Pie. A true Englander, David continued to enjoy his tea, biscuits and Marmite even after decades of living in the United States. Although his final days and death were expected after complications from his cancer diagnosis, losing him leaves a sad void in our lives. We can only hope and pray his last days were filled with peace and comfort. David will be greatly missed. His memory will live on through the special moments we shared with him.

David is survived by his wife Ronda, his children: Grant King and wife Thea, Marissa Zines and husband Daniel, Adam King and wife Nicole, Emma Samuels and Bella King. His stepchildren Adam Griffin and wife Anna, Nicole Caldwell and husband Jordan. His brother Michael King and his grandchildren: Joshua K, Jack, Ethan, Margot, Ralphie, Amelie, Isabelle, Joshua S, Alexander, Cashton, Axavier, Abigail, and Crew. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
