Obituary for David Wayne Bolt

Funeral services for David Bolt, 74, of Palestine, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Carroll Springs United Methodist Church with Woody Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Carroll Springs Cemetery under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Bolt passed away November 12, 2021 in Palestine.

David Wayne Bolt was born April 2, 1947 in Athens, the son of John Obie Bolt, Jr. and Wilma Marie (Till) Bolt. He graduated from LaPoynor High School in 1966 and served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic from 1967 until 1970. From there he worked with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a correctional officer and then went on to work for Big Brown as a mechanic for 33 years until his retirement. David enjoyed hunting, farming and Nascar. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a man of integrity, a hard worker and a devoted father, grandfather and brother who will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Carol (Johnson) Bolt.

Survivors include children, Wayne Roberts and Diana Calman of Elkhart, Crystal Wortham of Palestine, John Bolt of Palestine; sister, Sheila Thornton of Palestine; grandchildren, Cody Singletary and wife Terri, Leigha Sheffield and husband Michael, Sarah Murphy and husband Joshua, Hannah Betsill and husband Chantz, Maci Wortham, Jace Bolt, Dylan Bolt, Ashlyn Bolt, Kacie Rhoades, Jacob Calman; 10 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Singletary, Jace Bolt, Dylan Bolt, Joshua Murphy, Chantz Betsill, Michael Sheffield, Mike Till, Russell Johnson and Tim Wortham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Springs Cemetery, 349 ACR 4591, Palestine, Texas 75803.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
